I consider myself so damn lucky. I have my uncles. Bill introduced me to the uncle of my heart when I was 11. So by the time I started dealing with my desires at 20, I missed so much heartache. Of course, I still had heartaches but not of not knowing I was a lesbian. B & B have been together since 1973. 50+ years. My wife and I are going on 28 this month. It matters - representation ALWAYS matters.
Which is why I write today, usually I just enjoy the read- not today.
